Great Neighborhood
Small Town Feel, Big City Convenience
A short walk, bike ride or drive to the heart of downtown Akron’s commerce and culture.
Hickory incorporates timeless architectural design, classic building placement, and a land plan rooted in the City Beautiful Movement. Front porches facing a pedestrian friendly street, multi-use garages off private lanes, and sensitivity to public and private realms will distinguish this community from conventional subdivisions. This new neighborhood will emulate the charm of yesteryear, yet possess all the modern conveniences of full utilities, communications infrastructure, energy efficiency, and exciting floor plans.
The Plan of Hickory includes:
LANDMARK LANDING POINT - A prominence of land serving as a point of entry with architecturally interesting structures built acropolis-like to distinguish the locality. Hickory’s Pavilion will transcend Cuyahoga Valley National Park Railroad Stations and serve as a gathering place for residents’ use. POCKET PARK - A triangular parcel of land situated between two privately owned homes. Pocket Parks provide a pedestrian link of alley and street. Sitting areas and attractive plantings frequently line the walkway to create a casual area for impromptu conversation with neighbors. NEIGHBORHOOD SQUARE - A well proportioned formal open area framed by streets. Two or more storied homes “enclose” the square to create a visually defined outdoor room. Persons entering on foot, bicycle or by automobile will feel a welcoming sense of arrival to a great place.
